Disclaimer

PlainBreed is an information resource built on FDA adverse-event reports. It is not a source of veterinary advice, and the figures here cannot tell you whether a medication is safe for your animal.

Not veterinary advice

Nothing on PlainBreed is veterinary, medical, or professional advice, and it is not a substitute for a consultation with a licensed veterinarian who knows your animal. Never start, stop, or change a medication based on anything you read here. If your pet is showing signs of a reaction, contact your veterinarian or an emergency veterinary clinic immediately; the ASPCA Animal Poison Control Center can be reached at (888) 426-4435.

What an adverse-event report is, and is not

The FDA Center for Veterinary Medicine collects adverse-event reports voluntarily from veterinarians, pet owners, and manufacturers. A report means only that someone observed a health event after a product was used. It does not establish that the product caused the event, and the reports are not verified for accuracy by the FDA before they are recorded.

Report counts are shaped heavily by how common an animal or breed is and how actively events are reported. A high count usually reflects popularity and reporting activity, not higher real-world risk, and a death-coded share reflects which outcomes were documented, not a breed's true mortality rate.

Accuracy & affiliation

We compute every figure directly from the FDA's public data and work to keep it accurate, but we make no warranty that the data is complete or error-free. PlainBreed is an independent publisher and is independent - not affiliated with, endorsed by, or operated by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration. Always verify anything important against the official FDA source and your veterinarian.
